At least the fabric was better!

So after Manukau Armageddon, I was left knowing I really wanted to be part of the cosplay competition, But at a loss as to what to make.

One lunch break, As I was looking though a second hand store, I stumbled across a couple of bundles on fabulous fabric. After taking it home and setting fire to it, I discovered it was a very fine silk. Cue me going back multiple times over the next two weeks, collecting as much as I could. Each bundle had about 2 -3m of silk and was only $2. This would be the discovery that lead to me to making the first Cinderella gown.

This gown was a lot of firsts rolled into one. My first time dyeing fabrics, First time working with corsets and hoop skirts, and first time having to write a diary to give to the judges

I had a lot of failures that not many people know about. Like dyeing the bottom layer of the skirt two different shades of blue, and getting dye splashes all over my kitchen wall!

It took about four months of dyeing, sewing and sticking crystals on to get the dress finished for the competition. But it was all worth it. I sent my entry form off a two weeks early because I didn’t want to miss out!! At the same time I was making this gown, I also make a Tinkerbelle and Merida, But I’ll make another post about them.
